Little did actor, Peter Sellers, realize at the time he starred in the movie, "Being There", that his character would come to life "for real" nearly 30 years later! Boy was that movie -- just about the funniest I've ever seen -- ahead of its time!

Who do you think is the real Melvyn Douglas? Perhaps George Soros.

Barack Obama stars as "Change" the Gardener in remake of "Being There" starring Peter Sellers as "Chance" the Gardener!

Well, I wish somebody would say more, because I don't know what you're talking about. I looked up Chauncey Gardener & found out the basic idea: that Obama is a dunce people are mistaking for a wise man. But I've never had this thought & I can't think of any examples.

You may want to rent this 1979 movie. Very very funny (at least to me and many others). The point is not so much the "dunceness" of Chauncey Gardener -- because Obama is certainly no dunce. The point is the reaction of those listening to the banalities and meaningless generalizations of Chauncey and attaching whatever significance they wanted, in finally foisting Chauncey to be selected to run for President of the United States.

You really have to see the movie in order to fully appreciate the parallels.

Thanks for this site. Obama is the living embodiement of Peter Seller's role in "Being There."

This is from IMDB.com regarding the plot of "Being There" -

"Chance, a simple gardener, has never left the estate until his employer dies. His simple TV-informed utterances are mistaken for profundity."
